Vegas win totals for every ACC team in 2024

The offseason in college football is when speculation begins, and “talking season” is in full swing. However, the offseason has become more complicated than ever. Coaching changes, portal moves, roster attrition, recruiting, and even conference realignment must be factored into the equation.

In the modern era of college football, a team can look completely different from one year to the next. While this presents a challenge when predicting what the next season may look like, it hasn’t stopped us from trying. That also goes for the professionals in Vegas, who have loads of money riding on their ability to predict the future. Vegas doesn’t always get it right, but they put a lot of resources into their projections, so they are usually pretty close. One of the biggest sports books in the nation, Fan Duel, has released its early lines for regular season win totals and favorites to win each conference.

As much as the FSU community may not like it, we’re still playing in the ACC in 2024, so we’ll focus on the conference as long as Florida State remains a member. Despite the ACC’s future seeming more unstable than ever, I believe the conference is set to have a strong year. Maybe it even ends up being like the Pac-12 in 2023, one final boom before the whole thing falls apart. Only time will tell, but either way, let’s dive in.

Coming off a defensive showdown in the ACC title game, both reigning champion Florida State and runner-up Louisville have reloaded their rosters, each having a Top 5 transfer portal class. Clemson remains one of the most talented teams in the conference and will be in year two with Cade Klubnik in Garrett Riley’s system.

The ACC will continue Its history as a conference with good quarterback play as multiple teams landed impact transfers like Maalik Murphy (Duke), Max Johnson (UNC), Grayson McCall (NCST), and Cam Ward (Miami). The Hokies have one of the highest percentages of returning production in the country.

The odds makers set the bar at 9.5 wins for three ACC teams, 8.5 for two, and another six teams that would become bowl-eligible if they meet the mark. That outlook hints that the ACC should have a core of very competitive teams.

Let’s look at Fan Duel’s regular season win projection for each ACC team in 2024. We’ll also look at each team’s Odds to win the ACC.

Thoughts

Will the Seminoles repeat as conference champions, or can the Tigers return to the top? Louisville looks like a force that’s here to stay under Jeff Brohm, and Miami is in year three with their guy at quarterback. Or, could it be an outlier like Virginia Tech, North Carolina, or NC State that makes a run at the conference crown? How will the newcomers SMU, Cal, and Stanford fare in their first year playing in the ACC?

There are a lot of fun storylines to watch in the ACC as teams battle for a spot in Charlotte and compete in some big out-of-conference matchups. Will Vegas get it right? Only time will tell, but the excitement for the season is growing as it gets closer. Thanks for reading, and Go Noles!
