Florida State’s 2026 football recruiting class continues to gain momentum, with the Seminoles securing another major commitment today from four-star defensive lineman Tico Crittendon Jr. out of Lithonia, Georgia. Crittendon’s pledge adds another significant piece to what is becoming a formidable defensive haul for the Seminoles program.
The highly touted defensive tackle, who stands at an impressive 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, chose the Seminoles over a strong list of contenders including Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas Tech. He held a total of 23 Power 4 offers. Crittendon’s decision comes just days after he concluded an official visit to Tallahassee, a trip that sealed the deal for the talented prospect.
Crittendon had been slated to announce his commitment on July 4th, but his positive experience on his official visit, combined with the persistent efforts of Florida State defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, led him to make an earlier decision. Knighton’s rapport with Crittendon, which began with a spring visit, was instrumental in swaying the Georgia native to the Garnet and Gold.
“They’re up there,” Crittendon told The Osceola following his visit, highlighting his strong feelings about the program. “I feel pretty great about this school. Little bit of everything. Bond development, the way the guys work. Location doesn’t really matter to me but the fact that it’s that close to home – that’s a plus factor (too).”
During his junior season at Lithonia High, Crittendon proved to be a disruptive force on the defensive front, racking up 25 tackles, including an impressive 15 tackles for loss, in just six games. He also recorded a sack and two forced fumbles, showcasing his ability to consistently penetrate opposing backfields.
Crittendon is widely regarded as a top defensive line prospect in the 2026 class. Rivals ranked him as the No. 164 prospect nationally and the No. 9 defensive tackle in the country. Other recruiting services also place him highly, with 247Sports Composite listing him as the No. 336 overall prospect, No. 40 DL, and No. 42 recruit in Georgia. On3 has Crittendon as the No. 32 DL and No. 328 overall.
Crittendon is a quality prospect with good size walking in the door and is someone who knows how to use it. He’s quick off the line with a burst that allows him to easily penetrate gaps, hence the 15 TFLs. Quick hands and above-average strength are additional positives. His size and ability give him the flexibility to move around on the front, something that’s a plus in Tony White’s defense. He’ll need some polishing, but this is a nice get for Florida State in the trenches.
His commitment marks the second defensive line pledge for the Seminoles this week, following the addition of three-star James “Tank” Carrington. With Crittendon now in the fold, Florida State’s 2026 class climbs in the national rankings, boasting 14 committed prospects and continuing to solidify a strong foundation for future success.
Tribe 2026 has entered the top 20 in the 247 Composite team rankings at 19th and the top 15 of On3’s industry rankings at 14th. Florida State has gotten hot on the recruiting trail as they look to maintain their momentum in building the 2026 class. Thanks for reading and Go Noles.
