FSU beats out UGA for 2027 blue-chip WR Sean Green

FSU edges out UGA to land Peach State four-star receiver Sean Green for second blue-chip commit in two days.

Florida State has received a commitment from four-star wide receiver Sean Green out of Camden County High School in Kingsland, Georgia. The Noles beat out in-state powerhouse Georgia and ACC foe Virginia to land one of the top pass-catchers in the 2027 class, and it’s a win that this program genuinely needed.

Per the 247Sports Composite, Green checks in at No. 290 nationally, No. 37 at wide receiver, and No. 31 in the state of Georgia. Both 247 and Rivals rate him as a consensus four-star prospect. At 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, he’s not going to overwhelm you with size, but that profile has never stopped fluid, instinctive receivers from making an immediate impact at the college level.

The production backs up the ranking. Over the past two seasons at Camden County, Green has hauled in 89 receptions for 1,156 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 13.0 yards per catch. His junior year alone saw him put up 41 catches for 572 yards and nine scores. Scouts describe him as a shifty, explosive pass-catcher who can get open on his own and pick up big yards after the catch, tough to stay with down the field. That’s a guy who knows how to find space. He’s also a multi-sport athlete, competing in track and field, where he was 5th in the state championship long jump as a freshman.

FSU has been recruiting the Kingsland, Georgia, product since May of 2025 and had been at the top of his list for quite some time. Green visited Tallahassee multiple times before this, including two unofficial trips last October (one to see the Noles play Pittsburgh) and a Junior Day in January. He came into this official visit fresh off a trip to Georgia, calling it “great,” but the fact that he still made it to Tallahassee for his June 5-7 official said plenty about where FSU stood in his recruitment. Beating Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs for a Georgia kid who had every reason to stay home? That’s not nothing.

QB commit Logan Flaherty had Sean Green circled as one of his top recruiting targets, publicly calling him out alongside four-star running back Jayden Miles when asked which offensive players he was pushing hard to bring to FSU. Flaherty was on campus for his own official visit the same weekend Green was in town, and the two were seen together in the all-white uniform combinations during the visit.

That kind of peer-to-peer recruiting is exactly the culture Mike Norvell has been trying to build, and it’s nice to see it paying off in a tangible way. Flaherty made his intentions clear early, saying he wants to “handle the field on the recruiting side of things and build a class around himself” in Tallahassee. Green is the first concrete proof that he meant it and it’s nice to see a QB recruit actually lead and put on his recruiting cap.

From a fit standpoint, this makes a lot of sense. FSU’s receiving room has been loaded at the top with bigger, more contested-catch style receivers. Green’s speed and ability to create separation after the catch gives the Seminoles a different dimension at the position. Mike Norvell has always liked having a quick, versatile option who can work the short and intermediate routes and turn them into explosive plays. Wideout coach Tim Harris Jr. continues to build quite the pipeline at the position. If he sticks, he’ll be the fourth blue-chip signed in two cycles for Harris, joining Jasen Lopez, EJ White and Devin Carter.

Make no mistake, landing a blue-chip receiver out of Georgia, with the Bulldogs actively in the mix and coming off a visit there the week prior, is a win on the trail the Noles needed. Since losing their top recruit last week, FSU has bounced back by landing three four-star recruits.

You can feel the recruiting momentum starting to shift just a little. The 2027 class still has plenty of work ahead, but getting a player of Green’s caliber, at a position of need, while holding off the home-state school is the kind of win that can start snowballing.
