Florida State took a HUGE step towards rebuilding its offensive line for 2025 (literally) when 6-foot-7, 350-pound offensive tackle Micah Pettus announced his commitment to the Seminoles. The Ole Miss transfer is not only a massive human being but also helps fill a crucial position of need.
As a redshirt junior this past season, Pettus started 11 games at right tackle and had his best season. He only allowed one sack in over 400 pass snaps and had an impressive 74.0 run-blocking grade, too. Pettus was the Rebels’ highest-graded starting offensive lineman by a considerable margin.
In 2023, he started the first nine games at right tackle before suffering a season-ending injury. As a redshirt freshman in 2022, Pettus appeared in all 13 games with nine starts. He has played over 2,150 snaps over the past three seasons.
He stated in an interview that he can play wherever he is needed most. However, being that all his experience has been at right tackle and FSU has a vacancy at the position, I would be the least bit surprised to see Pettus step into the starting right tackle spot on day 1. This is a massive get for Florida State and new offensive line coach Herb Hand is showing the ability to land some big-time recruits.
Micah joins offensive line transfers Gunnar Hansen (Vanderbilt) and Adrian Medley (UCF) as FSU looks to rebound from a terrible year upfront. He will have one year of eligibility remaining. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
