No Spring Showcase for FSU in 2025 Amid Ongoing Stadium Renovations

Florida State continues work on completing the transformation of Doak Campbell Stadium that began last offseason. The plan is for renovations to be completed by August 30th when the Seminoles kickoff vs. Alabama.

To borrow a phrase from the movie Smokey and the Bandit staring one of FSU’s most famous Alumni, Bert Reynolds, there is a long way to go and a short time to get there. Given the timeline needed to finish the massive project, plans are being altered for events leading up the the season opener to allow construction crews to remain at work.

During FSU’s Vision of Excellence presentation on Tuesday afternoon, it was announced there will not be a Spring Showcase held in 2025 due to the ongoing stadium renovations.

Head coach Mike Norvell said there were discussions about relocating the event, however, due to schedule limitations, that was not considered the best option as it may cause FSU to miss valuable practice time.

This will come as a disappointment for those who planned to be in attendance and for those of us who our only chance to see the team in person prior to the season opener is the Spring Showcase. Yet, spring practice is a critical time for a program that is hoping to bounce back from a disappointing campaign in 2024. Every moment needs to be maximized towards getting better for the upcoming season, so the move is understandable.

Additionally, if you attended the event last year or any games last season, you are just as ready to get these renovations completed as we are so we can get back to having a normal game day experience. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!!
