With football season getting closer by the day, we can start to narrow our focus to some of the minor details as they emerge. The 2023 FSU football schedule has already been set but we only previously knew the start time for the huge season-opening contest against LSU. However, on Wednesday the school announced that kickoff times have now been set for the first three games of the 2023 season.
First up is the September 3rd Blockbuster matchup against LSU at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL. The game will kick off in prime time on ABC network at 7:30 pm Eastern time. In what is expected to be a contest between two top 10 teams on a Sunday night this one will have all eyes across the country tuned in. Florida State will have a huge opportunity in week one to make a case for their 2023 campaign on the national stage against the reigning SEC West champion, and revenge-minded, LSU Tigers.
Next up is the home opener in Doak Campbell Stadium on September 9th against Southern Miss. Personally, I was just hoping this would not be a noon game in the Florida September heat. Thankfully, the game has been announced as an 8:30 pm kickoff airing on the ACC network. Night games in Doak are just different and with all the excitement around the 2023 Noles even against a lesser opponent this should be a fun atmosphere to start the season at home. Florida State will also be coming off the Sunday night game against LSU so the late kickoff time will allow extra time to rest up.
In week 3, FSU will face its first true road game against Boston College. The ACC opener for the Noles will kick off at noon Eastern and air on ABC. While I feel FSU should be able to handle their business in this one, it can be tricky to play on the road all the way in Boston. However, let’s just be thankful it is not a red bandana game on a weeknight…iykyk. I also think it is nice to get this game in the books early as FSU will have a long flight home before another road game the following week in a massive conference matchup against Clemson.
The excitement continues to build toward the 2023 FSU football season with the announcement of the first three kickoff times. Florida State had a lot of night games last season and will start out with 2 of the first 3 taking place under the lights again in 2023. Not to mention all three games will air on national television so the Seminole brand will be on full display. As we inch closer to the season with announcements like this, plans will start to be made and before we know it Seminole football will be back. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
