Former Seminole Josh Sweat dominates in Super Bowl Win

Millions of fans across the country tuned in to watch last night’s Super Bowl as the Philadelphia Eagles halted the Kansas City Chiefs’ quest to become the first-ever team to three-peat. The Eagles came out swinging with a dominant defensive performance led by a swarming unit up front. Philly sacked Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes a career-high six times, led by former Florida State Seminole Josh Sweat.

The Jimbo-era recruit, who played in garnet and gold from 2015-2017, wreaked havoc in the backfield racking up 6 tackles (second highest on the team), 7 pressures (most on the team), and 2.5 sacks (most on the team). He also had 3 hits on Mahomes, one that caused an errant throw that was intercepted in the red zone, which the Eagles capitalized on with a touchdown just two plays later. Sweat’s performance garnered attention from across social media as there were multiple calls for him to be named MVP.

Although Jalen Hurts ended up winning the award, Sweat’s impact would help the Eagles win the game 40-22 earning himself and former FSU wide receiver Johnny Wilson their first Super Bowl ring. We want to congratulate them on this achievement! Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
