FSU Softball Defeats Lady Volunteers, Secures Spot in Rematch against Oklahoma for title.

Florida State softball defeated the Tennessee Lady Volunteers 5-1 Monday night, securing their ticket to the national championship against top-ranked Oklahoma. The Noles also faced the Sooners for the title in 2021, and despite taking game 1 of the series fell short allowing Oklahoma to claim their 5th national championship.

The Seminoles, guided by the leadership of Head Coach Lonni Alameda, have been on a run in this year’s tournament at 3-0 and never venturing out of the winner’s bracket. They started with a dominant win over Oklahoma State, before beating Washington in a thriller and now handling Tennessee in the semifinals.

However, not much can prepare you for the juggernaut that is Oklahoma softball. They have only lost one game this season, are on a 51-game winning streak, and will appear in their 4th consecutive national championship series.

But don’t expect the Noles to back down. They are a very talented team who went toe-to-toe with the Sooners in their last meeting and are 33-2 in the previous 35 games. They will undoubtedly have to bring their A-game to defeat a powerhouse like Oklahoma, however, the revenge-minded Seminoles should never be counted out.

With veteran leader Kathryn Sandercock in the circle and an offense that came to play this series scoring 16 runs in 3 games so far, the Noles should give the Sooners a run for their money.

The series starts Wednesday night at 8 pm and can be viewed on ESPN. We send our best to the lady Noles and can’t wait to watch them compete for their second national championship. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
