FSU quarterback Jordan Travis to return in 2023

December 5th may go down as one of the craziest days in college football history with over 1,000 players hitting the transfer portal. However, during what feels like a time of all out chaos, Seminole faithful received some calming news from their field General Jordan Travis.

Around 9 pm Monday night via social media Florida State’s QB1 announced that he will be returning for the 2023 season. This news is massive for an FSU program that has the potential to make a real run at something special next year after an impressive 9-3 season with a tenth win still on the line in the bowl.

Keep in mind, barring any unexpected departures, FSU should return almost their entire receiving core including dynamic receiver Winston Wright who missed all of 2022 with injury. They will also be adding 5-star receiver Hykeem Williams from the 2023 class. Jordan Travis has had a phenomenal season in 2022 and is currently the third highest graded quarterback in power 5 according to pro football focus. He’s racked up over 3,200 all-purpose yards and 30 touchdowns with the bowl game left to go.

The Seminoles saw an offensive explosion in 2022 and finished the regular season ranked 13th in total offense. FSU will have a few holes to fill up front but should be able to find replacements by way of players returning from injury, young guys who are ready for a starting role or through the portal which FSU has obviously been very effective in.

FSU is also set to return most, if not all, of their backs from an electric running game that racked up over 200 yards rushing in 9 games this season against some good defenses too. With the Noles offense returning a majority of its playmakers for 2023 the Seminoles could very well have a top 10 offense next season.

Of course, it wasn’t all perfect and there is still progress to be made but Jordan Travis should be on the preseason Heisman watch list as well. We already knew he was a gifted runner, but 2022 saw him really elevate his passing game too. He may not always blow you away on the stat sheet but his leadership, command of the offense and level of efficiency in passing are invaluable to this offense.

We’ll have to wait to get the final tally of who all is returning and what additional pieces may be added but this could be the biggest domino to fall for FSU that causes a few more to come down with it. I have a feeling this team knows they are on the verge of something special and there’s some unfinished business left to be handled after this season.

Also, keep in mind Florida State’s offense really started to take off this season despite most of their playmakers still being new to this system. Now with a full season together under their belt the sky looks to be the limit for the Seminoles offense in 2023.

At a time when the rest of the conference is being shaken up by the portal (at least 5 teams so far could have a new starting QB next season) this news couldn’t have come at a better time. Stay tuned for more authentic FSU coverage in what looks to be an action-packed off-season. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
