Florida State has received a commitment from 2027 three-star edge rusher Jaxon Holly out of Roswell, Georgia. Holly made his decision Saturday night during his official visit to Tallahassee, choosing the Noles over Auburn and Virginia Tech after visiting all three programs in consecutive weeks.
Standing 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Holly projects as a true edge rusher at the college level. Per the 247Sports Composite, he ranks No. 627 nationally, No. 53 among edge rushers, and No. 76 in the state of Georgia. He becomes the 10th commitment in FSU’s 2027 class.
There’s really no way to tell this story without starting with Nick Williams. FSU’s defensive ends coach originally offered Holly when Williams was at Syracuse, and when Williams made the move to Tallahassee, he brought that relationship right along with him. Holly made that connection crystal clear after committing.
“Nick Will, that’s my guy,” Holly said. “He offered me at Syracuse and followed it here. Means everything to me.”
While Williams was the primary on the recruitment, Mike Norvell’s fingerprints are all over this one too. Holly specifically called out Norvell’s energy and consistency as a separator from the competition, and the way the commitment itself unfolded says it all. Holly committed on Saturday night, told Norvell in person, and described the reaction as exactly what he expected from a coach who had been all-in from the start.
“Energy, crazy, excited,” Holly said. “He went crazy when I told him. His energy has always been high and never changed through everything, which I love.”
Norvell’s message of playing early also landed. That’s the sell for a player trying to evaluate where he can make an immediate impact at the college level, and clearly it resonated.
“Norvell’s passion stands out to me,” Holly said. “He’s really genuine, he truly wants me and sees me as a fit here. His message of playing early resonates.”

What He Brings to the Table
Holly ran the table on official visits, hitting Auburn on May 29 and Virginia Tech the following weekend before landing in Tallahassee for his final stop. By his own account, all three programs made strong impressions. FSU held the top spot on his board throughout, regardless, which is a credit to how Williams managed this recruitment.
The production has been steady across two seasons. This past year at Roswell, Holly recorded 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups. In 2024 at Alpharetta, he added 27 tackles, five TFLs, three sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup.
The sack numbers aren’t eye-popping, but the consistent TFL production and the disruptiveness show up on the tape. At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, there’s real frame to work with, and that weight room development will go a long way toward determining what kind of player he becomes at the college level.
Holly is a three-star prospect and likely not a plug-and-play day-one starter at the Power Four level. The development arc is real. But the relationship with the position coach, the frame, the production, and the way he talks about Tallahassee all point to a player who is going to be fully bought in from the moment he arrives on campus. Sometimes that matters as much as the recruiting ranking.
We’ve heard Nick Williams is a solid recruiter, and despite what he has to sell currently, he’s proving his worth. Holly joins four-star edge commit Anthony Cavallaro in the 2027 class. Stay tuned to your source for fan-focused FSU coverage here at Plant The Spear. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
