Florida State now knows the nine conference opponents it will face during the 2027 football season.
The Seminoles will host Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami and Stanford at Doak Campbell Stadium. Their ACC road schedule features trips to California, Clemson, North Carolina and Syracuse.
The dates and order of those conference games will be announced later.

The nine-game league slate represents the ACC’s new scheduling model. Beginning in 2027, 16 of the conference’s 17 programs will play nine ACC games, while one will play eight conference games and two Power Four nonconference opponents. Every program must play at least 10 Power Four opponents annually under the new format.
Florida State reaches that minimum with nine ACC games and its annual rivalry game against Florida. That detail could help explain what the Seminoles do with their final opening.
A Good Home Slate
From a ticket-selling perspective, Florida State received an attractive group of conference home games.
Miami will be the clear headliner, giving the Seminoles their biggest rivalry game at Doak Campbell Stadium. Louisville has developed into one of the more important games on FSU’s ACC schedule, while Georgia Tech has become a frequent problem for the Seminoles in recent meetings.
Duke has also become a more credible opponent after years of being considered one of the league’s most manageable games.
Stanford’s visit will be the first meeting between the programs in Tallahassee. Florida State made its first trip to Stanford in 2025 and suffered a 20-13 upset loss, providing the Seminoles with an opportunity to return the favor when the Cardinal travels east.
Add East Tennessee State, and FSU currently has six confirmed home games.
The Road Schedule Comes With Plenty of Travel
Florida State’s four-game ACC road slate is not overloaded with projected contenders, but it presents some significant logistical challenges.
The trip to Clemson carries the most obvious football significance. Although the ACC’s expanded format has reduced the number of protected annual matchups, FSU-Clemson remains one of the conference’s most recognizable games.
North Carolina gives the Seminoles another potentially interesting road environment, depending on the direction of that program over the next year.
FSU will also travel to Syracuse and California, creating two of the longest trips available within the current version of the ACC. The Cal game will be Florida State’s first visit to Berkeley. The programs’ only previous meeting came in Tallahassee in 2024, when the Seminoles escaped with a 14-9 victory.
That gives FSU road trips ranging from Gainesville and Clemson to Syracuse and the opposite side of the country. How the ACC spaces those games may become almost as important as the opponent list itself.
A poorly placed Cal trip, short week or cluster of consecutive road games could make the schedule significantly more difficult than it appears on paper.

What Happened to Georgia?
Florida State was originally scheduled to host Georgia on September 4, 2027, with the Seminoles returning the trip to Athens in 2028.
That home-and-home series was canceled in May as the ACC and SEC transitioned to nine-game conference schedules. The schools subsequently began working toward a neutral-site meeting in 2028, and settled on Nashville as the location.
The cancellation left FSU with only two scheduled nonconference opponents for 2027: East Tennessee State at home and Florida on the road. No replacement for Georgia has been announced.
With six home games and five road games currently confirmed, Alford’s statement strongly suggests that the final opponent will visit Tallahassee. Because nine ACC games plus Florida already satisfy the ACC’s requirement of 10 annual Power Four opponents, FSU does not need to replace Georgia with another Power Four program.
The most logical outcome would be a home game against a Group of Five opponent, giving Florida State seven home games and five road games. That remains an inference until the school announces the final addition.
The Early Read
Projecting the strength of a schedule this far in advance is always dangerous. Rosters, coaches and program trajectories can change quickly in the transfer-portal era. What can be evaluated is the structure.
Florida State received five ACC home games, including Miami, Louisville and Georgia Tech. Its four conference road games include only one annual heavyweight in Clemson, but the travel burden of trips to Berkeley and Syracuse adds another layer of difficulty.
The biggest disappointment remains the loss of Georgia.
A season-opening matchup between FSU and Georgia at a renovated Doak Campbell Stadium would have been one of the marquee games of the 2027 national schedule no matter how you feel about FSU’s chances in that one. Its replacement will almost certainly be less compelling.
Still, the home schedule should offer more appeal than many recent versions. Miami, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Duke and ETSU are already locked in, with a seventh home game appearing likely. The good thing is, I can look at this schedule and see a potential rebound season with whoever is at the helm. at least compared to this year’s schedule. Hopefully, we won’t see nearly as many non-Saturday games next year either.
Now Florida State awaits the final opponent and, eventually, the dates that will determine how manageable this schedule truly is. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
