FSU lands productive G5 EDGE transfer Deamontae Diggs

Florida State added another commitment to the trenches on Friday afternoon with the commitment of graduate transfer Coastal Carolina defensive lineman Deamontae Diggs. With an 87 Transfer Grade, Diggs is expected to be a key rotational player with a strong chance to compete for a starting role. He has one season of FBS experience, during which he recorded 34 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks despite playing part of the year with a hand injury. He also added two pass deflections.

A McKeesport, Pa. native, Diggs began his college career at Youngstown State in 2020, where he tallied 16 tackles and 6.0 sacks over three seasons. Originally a 6-foot-5, 210-pound recruit, Diggs added 50 pounds of mass putting him at his current weight of 260 pounds. His versatility fits well into FSU’s three-man defensive front under new DC Tony White.

At Coastal Carolina, he excelled as a run defender, earning a PFF Run Defense Grade of 66.4 and racking up 26 stops which ranked 5th in the Sun Belt conference. Notably, he recorded 18 QB pressures, including a career-high 8 in the regular-season finale against Georgia State. Diggs brings size, versatility, and experience to bolster the Seminoles’ defensive line. He joins defensive line transfers James Williams (Nebraska) and Deante McCray.
