Florida State head coach Mike Norvell shared some unfortunate news this week that wide receiver Destyn Hill will miss the 2024 season with an undisclosed injury. Hill had been out since early spring camp, but no clarity on his status had been provided. We started to assume this announcement may be imminent the longer the process dragged out.
It’s unfortunate for Hill, who already overcame a setback that delayed his enrollment at FSU by over 2 years. Despite the delay, he came to FSU in great shape and ready to contribute. Hill battled injury last season but still showed flashes of why he was so highly touted coming out of high school. He caught 6 passes for 87 yards in 10 games last season.
Unfortunately for FSU, rumors were swirling that Hill was electric in the spring and his speed was at an elite level. All signs pointed to Destyn being poised for a breakout season in 2024. With FSU already having a few concerns at receiver coming out of spring, this loss hurts. FSU still has Ja’Khi Douglas in the slot, but the offense will certainly take a hit from Hill being unavailable.
If there is one positive in this negative situation, the injury happened early this year, so he should be able to return in 2025. After all that we’ve seen him overcome just to get here, I have no doubt this won’t stop a guy like Destyn. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
