Florida State got another commitment for the trenches on Saturday when UCF transfer Adrian Medley made his official announcement. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound super senior will follow his former coach from Orlando to Tallahassee. The Pensacola native will be close to home and was recruited by FSU in the past, so he is familiar with the program. All these stars aligned for the big man to give the nod to the Noles.
Medley started 18 games as left guard over the past two seasons at UCF and played a total of 1,378 snaps for the Knights. His 69.1 PFF grade last year was a career-high and the second-highest by a starting UCF lineman. Also, keep in mind that Medley was part of a unit that helped produce the seventh-ranked rushing offense in college football.
When the Knights faced off against FSU’s in-state rival Florida this season, Medley posted a 69.4 PFF grade, higher than any FSU lineman had against the Gators.
Adrian spoke of the coaching staff wanting him to come in as leader and he knows he needs to make the most of his final year. He also liked Mike Norvell’s energy and loved that FSU felt like home.
Medley considered additional visits to Colorado, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech, but ultimately decided to shut things down after his first stop in Tallahassee. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Medley joins Vanderbilt transfer Gunnar Hansen as the first two of hopefully more offensive linemen coming to Tallahassee. FSU needs a complete rebuild in the trenches on offense and Medley is an experienced veteran with great size who has already been playing in FSU’s new offensive system. His ability to immediately step into a starter role is a major plus. Thanks for reading and Go Noles!
