The wait is over for Seminole fans, as Florida State’s 2026 football schedule has officially been released. The road ahead is not an easy one as FSU faces a daunting road schedule and a conference slate that pits them against most of the top teams in the ACC from a year ago. The schedule also features a record four non-Saturday games (including three Fridays and a Labor Day Monday kickoff).
With 8 bowl teams, 3 teams that won double-digit games, and 2 playoff teams, Norvell’s squad will have plenty of opportunities to have a make-or-break season.
Being FSU starts in week zero, they get two bye weeks—September 12 and October 24—to catch their breath amid a gauntlet that includes trips to Tuscaloosa and Miami, plus the annual Clemson showdown at home.
Here’s the full rundown of the Seminoles’ 2026 campaign, game by game, with dates, locations, and key notes—all times TBA unless noted, and TV designations to come:
•Saturday, August 29: vs. New Mexico State Aggies – Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL. Week 0 opener against the Conference USA foe, a chance for FSU to shake off the rust and build early momentum in front of the home crowd. – 2025 Record: 4-8
•Monday, September 7: vs. SMU Mustangs – Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL (ACC game). Labor Day primetime clash with the Mustangs to open conference play. This will ultimately be a tone-setter for the season, and a chance for the Noles pick up their first ACC win. – 2025 Record: 9-4
•Saturday, September 19: at Alabama Crimson Tide – Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL. Non-conference blockbuster against the SEC powerhouse, which will be looking for revenge after last year’s dominant upset in Tallahassee. FSU won’t get the element of surprise this time around as both teams play two games prior; however, FSU does get an extra week to prepare coming off a bye, whereas Bama does not. Let’s hope Gus has more magic up is sleeve and continues to haunt the Crimson Tide. – 2025 Record: 11-4
•Saturday, September 26: vs. Central Arkansas Bears – Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL. Home tilt versus the FCS opponent from the ASUN Conference, where Mike Norvell played college ball. – 2025 Record: 3-9
•Saturday, October 3: vs. Virginia Cavaliers – Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL (ACC game). Early October matchup against the Cavaliers, who are coming off their best season in almost 40 years. Last year’s game was a double-overtime thriller that went in favor of the Cavs. The Noles will be looking for revenge on their home turf this time around. – 2025 Record: 11-3
•Friday, October 9: at Louisville Cardinals – L&N Stadium, Louisville, KY (ACC game). First of two Friday night road tests; the ‘Noles head to bourbon country for a prime-time showdown under the lights. Friday night road games haven’t been kind to the Noles lately, but their last trip to Louisville was also a Friday night game in 2022, and FSU walked out with a win. – 2025 Record: 9-4
•Saturday, October 17: at Miami Hurricanes – Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL (ACC game). The heated rivalry renews in South Florida—always a battle of pride, talent, and trash talk between these Sunshine State foes. The Canes have been hot and won the last 2 meetings. Can FSU turn the tide back in the direction of the good guys and knock off Miami in Doak South? – 2025 Record: 13-3
•Saturday, October 31: vs. Clemson Tigers – Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL (ACC game). Halloween havoc at Doak against a Tigers team that’s coming off a rather disappointing season. FSU hasn’t beaten Clemson in Tallahassee since 2014, and the Tigers have won four straight on the road. This could be the opportunity to snap the streak as the fighting Dabos have some questions of their own. – 2025 Record: 7-6
•Saturday, November 7: at Boston College Eagles – Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA (ACC game). Early-November trip up north to face the Eagles in what could be chilly conditions, testing FSU’s mettle on the road. As FSU fans know, no matter the record, Chestnut Hill has some sort of voodoo that always makes it a tough place to win. This could also be their red bandana game, which only adds to the juju. – 2025 Record: 2-10
•Friday, November 13: at Pitt Panthers – Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh, PA (ACC game). Another Friday nighter in the Steel City against Pat Narduzzi’s gritty bunch—expect physicality and a tough out. FSU has won its last two trips to Pittsburgh, but those teams were led by legendary quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Jordan Travis.– 2025 Record: 8-5
•Saturday, November 21: vs. NC State Wolfpack – Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL (ACC game). FSU ends 2026 the same way it did 2025, with NCST then Florida. The Noles dropped both games last year, but this time they get both of them at home. The Wolfpack has won 6 of the last 7 meetings, and Mike Norvell is 0-3 against Dave Doeren, so this one won’t come easy. – 2025 Record 8-5
•Friday, November 27: vs. Florida Gators – Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL. Rivalry week caps the regular season on Black Friday at home; the Seminoles look to reclaim bragging rights in this iconic in-state battle. The old regime, including former quarterback DJ Lagway, has departed Gainesville and is now led by former Tulane head coach John Sumrall. FSU last faced the Gators on a Friday in 2022, and pulled out a thrilling 45-38 victory in Doak. – 2025 Record: 4-8
FSU will have four non-Saturday games this year for the first time in program history. While it’s not ideal for fans, it does offer FSU the opportunity to grab some extra primetime slots to maximize TV revenue. The Noles went 0-4 in regular-season non-Saturday games the past two years, but did go 4-0 in them from 2022-2023. At FSU, Mike Norvell is 4-5 in regular-season non-Saturday games.
The Noles get 4 of their first 5 games at home with a couple of extra days to prepare for SMU and a bye week before the trip to Tuscaloosa. They really need to get off to a strong start and be at least 4-1 heading into the Virginia game. If they are sitting at 2-2 with zero Power 4 wins… It’s probably going to be another long season battling for bowl eligibility.
They do get bye weeks before Alabama and Clemson, which allows them to rest up and have extra time to prepare.
Miami gets a bye week before us again this year. Pitt also gets a bye week before facing FSU.
They will have a tough stretch after the Virginia game with back-to-back road games against Louisville on a short week (Friday game) and then Miami. After a bye, they get Clemson at home and another set of back-to-back road games, including long-distance trips to Boston and Pittsburgh, on another short week. Honestly, I’d weigh my options of even returning to Tallahassee on such a short turnaround.
This is not an easy schedule by any means, and the road slate is what worries me the most. FSU hasn’t won a road game in two years and must go to Alabama, Louisville, Miami, Boston College, and Pitt.
It will be imperative for them to get off to a fast start and not lose momentum like they did last year. They went 5-2 at home last year and have a somewhat manageable home schedule.
The question will be, can they win the winnable games and overcome the road woes to finally right the ship? Bowl eligibility is not the standard at FSU, but right now, it feels like even that might be tough this year. We’re all pulling for a turnaround in Tallahassee, and it all starts August 29th against New Mexico State. Thanks for reading, and Go Noles!
